Sadly, Dumped At Kill Shelter As Stray, Owner Betrayed Him and Says 'We Don’T Want Him Back’

A senior Labrador retriever was picked up as a stray and taken to the Carson Animal Services facility in Gardena, California, on January 29. Staff was able to locate an identifying microchip in the dog’s neck and a phone call was made to let his family know that he was safe, and that they could come to the facility to reclaim him.

Sadly, there will be no happy reunion. The volunteer-run Facebook page, Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, described how this handsome senior dog’s family has betrayed him:

TANNER is pure, sweet, adorable LOVE! His owner was called to come get him and they said for the shelter to keep him, they don’t want him back.

Tanner has a family – but for reasons unknown, they have opted to turn him away, leaving his fate to chance. Until the owner comes to the animal control facility to sign the surrender paperwork, Tanner will remain on the 10-day “chip” hold.

Please network Tanner’s information to help him find a new, loyal owner, who would never consider turning their back on him.
