Sadly, No One Wants To Adopt This 13-Weeks Young Shepherd Because of The Color of His Coat

In the shelter world, the only group of animals that are discriminated more against besides pit bulls, are animals with black coats. In fact, statistics show that the euthanasia rate for animals like cats and dogs with black coats is just as high as pit bulls. Sad indeed.

For one dog living in the high-kill, Miami-Dade Animal Services (MDAS), the struggle to find a home is all too real. Spawn, a 13-weeks-old German shepherd is a young adorable pup, who is often passed up for other dogs.

A shelter volunteer who wished to remain anonymous for this story says that the only reason she could think of as to why Spawn has not been adopted has to do with one thing and one thing only: the color of his coat.

In certain cultures, animals with a black coat, are considered to be a bad omen. For instance, in our own culture, there is folklore that if a cat crosses in front of you, 7 years of bad luck will ensue.

Obviously, this couldn’t be further from the truth, however, there are people out there who believe this, unfortunately.

SpeakUp, let’s change the course you this young pup’s life. Spawn deserves the love that he has never received in his life, and we can help make that happen.

If you someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family he deserves, please contact the Miami-Dade Animal Services at (305) 884-1101 and reference the shelter ID #A1849975.
