8-Months Old Chihuahua Surrendered To Kill Shelter By Heartless Family, Has Given Up All Hope

For AVERY, it seems like the days aren’t going to get any easier. Surrendered to the high-kill Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, the terrified, 2-month-old pup now contemplates a very bleak future, they could have never imagined.

That’s because at Carson, dogs are given just weeks, and sometimes even just days to find a forever family before they are brought to the back and placed in a section of the facility dubbed by insiders as “death row.” The cash-strapped, city-funded facility grapples with overcrowding and so to free up valuable kennel space, “hard decisions” have to be made. That could only mean euthanasia, as a last ditch solution, according to a volunteer who wished to remain anonymous for this story.

AVERY’ owner could no longer afford to care for her, and so they packed up her belongings, along with her favorite sweater, toys, and doggie bed, and surrendered her to Carson. AVERY, who is terrified by the noise, and chaos that is Carson, can be usually found tucked away in a corner in her kennel space cowering in fear from the deafening noise that has shaken her to the core.

SpeakUp, AVERY should not have to cry herself to sleep every night, hoping and praying for the second chance she deserves. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup a forever home, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566 and reference the shelter ID #A5037079

Additionally, please share this story of AVERY on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding her a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
